Daniel K Sanders, Psy.D.

Dr. Sanders was born and raised in a small town in Washington State.  He has happily been married for 38 years and has four grown children.  He attended Central Washington University where he completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology.  He then served in the United States Navy for eight years and is a Desert Storm veteran.  After leaving military service, he attended the University of Northern Colorado where he completed a doctoral degree in counseling psychology.  In addition, while at the University of Northern Colorado, he completed coursework in neuropsychology.  Dr. Sanders then moved to Houston, Texas where he completed an internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.  He participated in rotations including neuropsychology, spinal cord injury, posttraumatic stress, biofeedback and counseling psychology.  Dr. Sanders then completed a one-year postdoctoral training program in neuropsychology at the University of Texas at Herman Memorial Hospital.  During this time, he also attended Baylor College of Medicine and studied neuroanatomy and neuroscience.  He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow in a private practice for two years providing neuropsychological evaluations, general psychological evaluations and evaluations to identify learning disabilities.  Additionally, his responsibilities included individual psychotherapy.  After completing his postdoctoral work, he then became the clinical director at Deer Oaks Behavioral Health in Pasadena, Texas.  As clinical director, he led a staff providing psychological services for abused children.  Dr. Sanders opened his own private practice in the Houston area in 2003.  His initial office was in Pasadena.  He then expanded to Clear Lake, Bellaire and north Houston.  He then founded DK Sanders, PsyD and Associates, which provides psychological services across the Greater Houston area.  Services include neuropsychological evaluations to determine the effects of traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia or other neurological disorder; general psychological evaluations; evaluations to identify learning disabilities; evaluations to assess levels and forms of autism and evaluations for chemical dependency and substance abuse.  In addition, a full array of counseling services are available including individual counseling, couples counseling and family therapy.

Tanya Hinson, M.S., LPC 

Tanya holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.  She has worked with a range of individuals and their families in both the private and hospital settings.  Particularly, she has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families struggling with mood disorders, anxiety and acute mental illness.  In addition, she has worked with individuals who struggle with different forms of addiction.  She has significant training in psychological assessments and learning disabilities.  This training has been a great asset in helping her assist clients in coping effectively with a new diagnosis.  Her goal is to help her clients gain personal insight, develop appropriate coping skills and change destructive thinking patterns; so they can live a meaningful, happy and successful life.  In the state of Texas, Tanya is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #72794).
